Chairman

Richard Li Tzar Kai is a global entrepreneur, philanthropist, and the founder and Chairman of Pacific Century Group (PCG), an Asia-based private investment group with long-term interests across financial services, property, and technology, media and telecommunications (TMT).

Richard is a highly respected businessman who deeply believes in the importance of giving back. He’s therefore proud to be associated with multiple charitable initiatives. In 2011, he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Cable & Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia.

He’s also a member of several boards and steering committees including the International Councillors Group at Washington DC’s Center for Strategic and International Studies. Always keen to find the next challenge, Richard is a licensed pilot as well as a licensed rescue scuba diver.

We’re proud to welcome Malcolm to the bolttech board, having watched his career as the 29th Prime Minister of Australia from 2015-2018. Prior to becoming Prime Minister in 2015 Malcolm had served as Minister for the Environment, Leader of the Opposition and Minister for communications. He brings sound judgment and a unique set of skills and experience from fourteen years in Parliament and prior to that as a successful lawyer, banker and investment banker. He ran his own investment bank, Turnbull & Partners Limited from 1987 to 1997 and following that became a partner of Goldman Sachs & Co in 1998 and led its Australian business. He has founded many Australian companies including in technology, mining and financial services.

He has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Law, both from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford where he was a Rhodes Scholar. Malcolm lives in Sydney with his wife Lucy, a former Lord Mayor of Sydney, and in his spare time enjoys sailing, kayaking and entertaining his four grandchildren.

Peter has been an innovator and problem solver in financial services since 1980. Until May 2017, he was group CEO of AIG, where he initially led the recapitalization de-risking and disposition strategy that repaid the US government’s $183 billion assistance package. He spent his first 20 years at JP Morgan, where he founded the global derivatives business, restructured and ran the fixed income and credit businesses and spent his final 18 months as group CFO and chief risk officer.

Between 2001 and 2008, he founded, grew and sold Integrated Finance Limited. He was then for 14 months the Vice Chairman of Keycorp in Cleveland. He currently serves as an advisor and board member to a handful of companies in financial services, technology and life sciences. Peter spent his first 20 years growing up in Hong Kong and was educated in the UK. He holds a BA in politics, philosophy and economics from Oxford University where he initially read physics. He is a William Pitt Fellow of Pembroke College Cambridge.

Jonathan Christodoro is a partner at Patriot Global Management, an investment manager, and brings a wealth of investment experience to the board. Previously he was Managing Director of Icahn Capital and held various buy-side investment and research roles, following his early career at Morgan Stanley in investment banking. Jonathan lends his business acumen and foresight to several of the world’s biggest companies. He currently serves on the board of directors of PayPal, Pioneer Acquisition Corp. and Frontier Acquisition Corp. He was previously a director at Cheniere, Xerox, SandRidge, Lyft, eBay, Hologic, Kadenwood, and Herbalife, amongst others.

Jonathan has a degree in economics from Cornell University, an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a graduate degree from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Jonathan also served in the United States Marine Corps.

Masashi Namatame is the Managing Executive Officer and Group Chief Digital Officer at Tokio Marine Holdings, bringing over 35 years of industry expertise and investment banking experience to the board. Prior to joining Tokio Marine in 2018, he was the Managing Director and a Member of the Board at BlackRock Japan, where he headed up strategic business development and institutional businesses.

Masashi has held a number of senior leadership positions at some of the world’s most respected financial institutions, including Visa Worldwide Japan, Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Bank. At Deutsche, he was the Managing Director, Head of Public Sector Group/Financial Institutions Group and led a number of strategic transactions on a global scale. Masashi graduated from University of Tokyo and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Fernanda is a Partner and Co-head of LeapFrog’s Asian financial services team, responsible for originating investments and driving value and growth across the firm’s diverse portfolio. She has over 20 years of experience in private equity, since joining AIG Global Investment Group in London in 2002. From 2008, she focuses on Asia by taking an active management approach. Her team works to grow or turn around inclusive finance institutions across the region, making them attractive to strategic and capital markets.

She joined LeapFrog from Developing World Markets, a US-based pioneer and a sizable impact asset manager, where she was Managing Director. She invested and managed private equity investments for two funds. Her portfolio companies have spread across Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Vietnam, and she has held Board seats and leadership roles managing diverse teams, Boards and senior staff.

Fernanda holds a Master of Science in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and a Master in Business Administration from the University of London (Imperial College). She was a British Chevening Scholar (funded by the UK’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office) and speaks three languages. Fernanda has worked in four continents and moved to Singapore in 2013, where she lives with her husband and three sons

Peter brings an extensive career and many years’ experience to the board. He joined the Pacific Century Group in 1997 where he is an Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer. He also undertakes several senior leadership roles and responsibilities within its portfolio of companies. This includes his role as Managing Director of Pacific Century Regional Developments and non-executive Director positions within HKT Trust and HKT Limited with FWD.

Peter’s early career began at KPMG before moving onto senior management positions, including six years at oilfield services company Schlumberger. Peter was also previously Director and Chief Operating Officer at Morgan Grenfell Investment Management Asia. As a Chartered Accountant, Peter combines deep industry expertise with astute business acumen. He graduated from the University of Sussex with a degree in economics. Outside work, Peter stays active with running, cycling, and swimming. He also enjoys theatre, sailing, reading and actively manages a portfolio of investments.

With more than 35 years’ international leadership experience within the insurance industry, Rob’s previous roles include Managing Director and Group Chief Operating Officer for FWD Group, and President & CEO of AIG’s commercial insurance businesses worldwide.

Outside of work, Rob can be found in the gym or competing in some of the world’s toughest endurance competitions such as the Ironman World Championships, and the Antarctic Ice Marathon.

Richard is a partner at Activant Capital, a US-based global investor, leading its strategic operations across a portfolio of high-growth businesses. Bringing strong commercial acumen across a range of sectors, he now brings valued insights and expertise to the bolttech Board. Previously, Richard was a Senior Partner at McKinsey along with Chief Strategy Officer of The Thomson Corporation (now ThomsonReuters). He also worked as Head of Corporate Planning for South African Breweries and as an engineer for Unilever.

Richard was born and educated in South Africa and graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He also has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of South Africa and an MBA from the University of Cape Town. In his spare time, Richard can be found cycling on country roads near his home in Connecticut or spending time with his children in New York and London.

Romaney leads bolttech’s finance function and is a member of the executive committee. In her role as Group CFO, she plays a pivotal role in driving our financial strategy and management, and is involved in strategic planning and execution across the group.

Romaney brings with her more than 20 years of leadership and senior finance experience in the insurance industry. She previously held leadership roles at AIG, Liberty, Swiss Re and GE Insurance.

When she’s not planning her next travelling adventure, Romaney enjoys being active in the great outdoors and practising yoga.

David leads all things technology across bolttech. Previously, he has been a CIO, CX and innovation leader in two of the world’s largest banks Standard Chartered and DBS. He was also a pioneer in the development of the fintech sector in Greater China. David’s passions beyond innovation and technology, are minimalism, sustainability, renewable energy, helping start-ups, and a variety of sports including F1, basketball, swimming, cycling, running and Australian football.

Melissa leads the overall responsibility to drive the organisation’s growth through product innovation and digital transformation. She works closely with our colleagues in technology, customer experience, partnerships and distribution as part of a wider mandate to build and enhance our digital ecosystem.

She has a proven track record as a digital leader in the financial sector, having worked in banking and financial services for over a decade. She joins us from the banking industry, where she spearheaded customer-led digital transformation projects and customer journey initiatives.

In her spare time, Melissa enjoys crewing on sailing yachts, trail running, and road biking.

Ashley heads up our legal department, overseeing all compliance, legal and company secretarial matters. A legal and compliance insurance specialist with over 20 years’ experience, Ashley’s career includes senior legal and compliance roles, in Sydney, New York and London, most recently with Chubb.

Now based in Singapore, Ashley enjoys good food and company, travelling off the beaten track, and the great outdoors.

Jon leads bolttech’s North America business and is a member of the executive committee. He leads bolt’s operations in the region and sets the strategic direction for the business. His role includes overseeing and refining bolttech’s industry specific strategies, along with driving revenue and profitability.

Jon has more than two decades of insurance and technology experience across consulting and tech. Outside of insurance, he has extensive experience in the banking, real estate, telecommunications and retail industries. Jon has held leadership positions in insurance distribution innovation at Accenture and IBM.

Jon lives in San Francisco. In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his family and friends, playing guitar, skiing, cycling, and enjoying Northern California.

Stephan is responsible for bolttech’s corporate strategy and investments, including M&A. He is a founding executive of bolttech, member of the executive committee and secures organic and inorganic opportunities as part of bolttech’s growth strategy and business expansion.

With more than 15 years in international corporate finance experience, Stephan’s previous roles include VP M&A and Strategy at FWD and Chief Financial Officer at Edirect Insure Group, overseeing several key functions including finance, legal and HR. He started his career within investment banking at Citigroup, covering financial institutions in Europe.

Outside of work, Stephan is a keen linguist and he enjoys playing football, squash, and chess. He lives in Singapore and is married with twins.

Philip leads the growth and development of our business across Asia and the Middle East. He is responsible for developing and implementing bolttech’s strategy and expanding our partnerships in these regions.

As a founding member of the team, Philip previously led our data insights function as Group Chief Data Officer, with key responsibilities that encompass product and pricing. Prior to joining bolttech, Philip worked in insurance and consulting across various functions including product, finance, and risk management.

When not in the office, he spends most of his time chasing his three young kids around at home.

Rob leads our MGA strategy and capability globally, including commercial structure, partnerships and distribution.

With more than a decade’s experience in the insurance industry and close to two decades’ experience in global strategy and commercial roles, Rob has a track record of building cutting-edge insurance products and delivering growth. He’s led innovation efforts for multinationals in financial service, and invented new insurance products in the sharing economy and for new mobility. Additionally, he serves as a board member for a number of start-ups in the category.

Rob is a lawyer by training, and is an avid runner, skier and road biker. He and his partner are based in San Francisco.

Mark leads the growth and development of our businesses across Asia and Europe. He was previously the CEO of bolttech’s device protection business and co-founder of our Southeast Asian operations.

Mark brings over 20 years’ experience in business development and was one of the pioneers of smartphone insurance in the region. Mark started his career in sport and had won numerous titles for the British Junior waterski team.

Outside of work, Mark’s thirst for adventure extends from water skiing, surfing, ice hockey to motocross racing.

Scott manages our talent and is responsible for driving the development of our people, across all our workstreams, and is a member of our executive committee. He has close to 20 years’ experience in human resources across several industries including insurance, telecommunications and consumer goods. Scott’s previous roles include Group VP, Human Resources for FWD Group, and Head of Talent Management, APAC and EMEA, for Edgewell Personal Care. Originally from Sydney, Scott has made Hong Kong his home for the past five years – along with his partner and two dogs. He enjoys travelling, hiking and the outdoors.

As Head of Product, Nga is responsible for leading bolt’s product development in support of the company’s long-term growth plans. Her role is instrumental in steering the strategic direction of the company’s product offerings, focusing on innovation and enhancing the insurance market.

Nga has nearly two decades of experience in executive leadership roles and advising C-Suite leaders at enterprise SaaS companies, including Salesforce, ServiceNow and Risk Management Solutions. She also spent time at Bain & Company, where she contributed significantly to the telecommunications, media and technology practice. A transformational leader in the technology and insurance sectors, Nga’s deep expertise in product management, strategic planning, and operational leadership has led her to make significant contributions across organizations, having driven product innovations that transformed customer service experiences, including leveraging generative AI.

Nga holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and a BA in Economics from Bates College. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoys exploring the outdoors and spending time with her family, which also includes two canine children.

Clay is responsible for leading bolt’s device protection vertical, where he harnesses bolt’s insurtech capabilities to create new and differentiated revenue streams for our partners.

As a seasoned insurance and telecoms executive, Clay’s track record includes key leadership roles at Brightstar, DAX Technologies, Lucent, and TELUS.

Outside of work, Clay enjoys competitive ballroom dance, motorcycling and golf.

As head of Engineering, Tal manages the technical aspects of the bolt platform and is responsible for all research and development. She provides strategic direction at the heart of our work and keeps technology innovation as one of our main goals.

Tal joined bolt in 2009 as a software engineer and has progressed to become the Engineering Lead for our R&D division today.

Outside work, Tal enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading books, cooking, and baking.

Matt leads bolt’s accounting and finance functions, partnering closely with our business and technology teams. In his role as bolt’s CFO – North America, he is responsible for financial planning and reporting, guiding capital allocation, cash management, and strategic investment decisions.

Matt joined us from ThoughtSpot, where he was VP of Finance and Strategy. He has worked for multiple world-class tech companies and enterprise organizations, including Block, Salesforce, and Deloitte, leading multiple finance teams and supporting company growth throughout his career.

Matt lives in the San Francisco North Bay area. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, cycling, and exploring the outdoors.

In his role as Head of Sales for North America, Jeff is responsible for leading bolt’s sales efforts across the company’s core business segments. He is focused on establishing scalable and repeatable sales processes that align with our growth targets and tech-leading practices.

Jeff brings more than 25 years of experience in the software industry at high-growth startups and leading technology companies, including Salesforce, SAP and Oracle. An enterprise sales leader, Jeff has extensive experience building and scaling go-to-market teams and implementing processes and methodologies to make them successful. Jeff is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and developed his ability to manage complex operations as a military officer in the Air Force. Additionally, he earned his Masters in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.

Jeff lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, has two children, and enjoys mountain sports and recreational flying in his spare time.

Ryan leads bolt’s Operations and is focused on enabling bolt’s ambitious growth strategy across all lines of business in the United States. Ryan joined us from AIG where he led a Transformation team focused on strategy and business transformation across the company’s global footprint. Ryan has a Management Consulting background and worked with Deloitte Consulting LLP servicing various North American based insurance companies. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys cooking, travelling and hanging out with his wife and two sons.

Dinh heads bolt’s marketing, brand, and communications functions. In his role as bolt’s CMO, Dinh helps drive business growth, leading the planning, development, and execution of the company’s integrated marketing, brand, and communications strategy. Previously, he served as Group Chief of Staff, helping to drive strategic planning and execution in order to meet company goals at the global level.

Dinh joins us from MetLife, where he was Chief of Staff to the CEO of MetLife Japan in Tokyo. Dinh has experience working in both the private and public sectors across the United States and Asia, having held senior leadership roles in multi-national corporations and senior policy positions in the U.S. Government at the White House and the Pentagon.

Dinh is married with three children, and as a family, they love to explore, travel and find the next adventure together.

David works across our business’s value chain, delivering a best-in-class product proposition. His work is underpinned by a robust strategy and vision, and he designs innovative product features for all our markets.

David holds expansive industry credentials in both the P&C and technology sectors. Before joining bolt, he was the VP of Business Solutions at Sapiens.

Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with family and learning about emerging technologies and sports.

Melissa manages the People function for bolt and provides strategic guidance and leadership for all aspects of the human resources function across North America.

Before joining us, Melissa enjoyed a long career in human resources and spent most of it working for various software startup companies.

Outside of work, Melissa enjoys traveling, skiing, and just about anything outdoors with her husband and three children. She is based in Tampa, Florida.

Jens, as bolttech’s Chief Growth Officer for Europe and Africa, leads the team behind our sales and business development, including sales operations. Based out of our Zurich office, Jens has played a key role in supporting international operators, manufacturers and retailers in the telecommunications, and hearing aid and eyewear industries to drive profitable growth into adjacent insurance markets.

Jens joined the bolttech team as the founder of i-surance, a leading European insurtech player, in 2021 and he has been an important member of the bolttech executive leadership team since. With a wealth of deep expertise in the telecommunications and technology industries, Jens is passionate about making our clients successful.

Away from work, he enjoys skiing with his family in the winter.

As bolttech’s Head of Partnerships Success for Europe and Africa, Aleksander Wistuba leads the development of strategic partnerships and distribution initiatives across both regions. With over 13 years of experience in the financial and insurance industries, Aleksander plays a key role in expanding bolttech’s presence in Europe and Africa.

Prior to bolttech, Aleksander was the President of the Board and Founder of Digital Care LLC, where he oversaw the company’s expansion into global markets, including Europe, Africa, and Asia. He has held managerial positions at Sygma Bank Polska, Euro Bank S.A., and Deutsche Bank Polska S.A. Aleksander holds degrees from the Business School at National Louis University in Nowy Sącz and the University of Gdansk.

When he’s not working, Aleksander enjoys water sports, including kitesurfing, as well as exploring new travel destinations.

Baldev leads our growth and expansion in the Southeast Asian markets including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, based out of our Singapore head office.

With close to 30 years of experience across the insurance and office automation and services industries, he has held various leadership positions in general and life insurance companies.

In his free time, Baldev enjoys cycling, trekking and taking his dog for walks.

Alister leads our operations in Hong Kong and Taiwan, overseeing our digital insurance, device protection, and insurance exchange offering at a market level. He also works closely with our partnerships and product strategy team, growing synergistic partnerships and collaborations with market-leading brands.

Prior to his work at bolttech, Alister co-founded Hyphen Group (formerly CompareAsia Group) and was at the helm of their Hong Kong operations until joining us in 2020. He began his career with Morgan Stanley in London, and since then has worked in leadership positions across Europe and Asia.

Alister holds a BSc in Economics from Trinity College, Dublin. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing, crossfit, and competing in Ironman events.

Julie leads our Taiwan operations with a focus on growing our insurtech capabilities in the market. With over 15 years’ experience in the industry, her most recent appointments include leadership and senior marketing positions with UCAR, iCompare Taiwan, Money101.com.tw, and AIA China.

In her leisure time, she enjoys Nordic walking, yoga, and learning new skills – in fact, she’s been learning Korean for nearly two years.

Yen Yen leads our Singapore operations and is responsible for the market’s commercial success.

With over 30 years of experience in general insurance, Yen Yen has previously held senior management positions in various capacities before joining bolttech. She has comprehensive strategic insights with deep knowledge on general insurance across all distribution channels and the entire insurance value chain. Yen Yen was a Member of the WSH Council (Insurance) Workgroup and the General Insurance Association Agents Registration Board and is actively involved with the local insurance community.

Outside of work, Yen Yen enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends.

Huong leads our Vietnam operations, responsible for driving business growth and scaling up our insurtech capabilities in the market. With over 25 years of experience in both multinational and local companies in the insurance industry, her most recent roles include leadership positions at Bao Long Insurance, HD Insurance, JLT Vietnam and Aon Vietnam. In addition, she has served as an advisor to Credify, an insurance startup during their pre-Series A funding stages.

Outside of work, Huong enjoys golfing, cardio, yoga and running (half marathon).

Jinmook leads our Korea operations with a deep focus on product strategy and managing overall project execution across our Korea business. With over 18 years of experience in the industry, he was previously the Project Leader in Financial Institution and Private Equity practice at Boston Consulting Group in Seoul. Before Boston Consulting Group, Jinmook also worked for Goldman Sachs as Executive Director in Investment Research, where he served in an investment advisory role for global investors. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time at the gym and travelling with his family.

Ajith leads our operations in the Philippines, with a focus on growing our embedded protection partnerships with existing and new partners in the market. An experienced leader with more than 20 years of experience in the financial services and technology sectors, Ajith was most recently Director & Country Manager, Sri Lanka at BIMA, a leading tech-enabled provider of affordable insurance and healthcare subscriptions in Asia and Africa.

Outside of work, Ajith enjoys spending time with his family, especially on travels. He is a keen sports enthusiast and plays tennis and squash.

Akiko Anzai

Akiko Anzai is bolttech’s General Manager for Japan, with over a decade of experience in embedded protection, having worked with major telecommunications companies in Japan. In her current role she will build and lead our propositions for distribution partners in the market.

Prior to bolttech, Akiko held senior roles in corporate development and strategy, and has strong experience of product management insurance and protection operations.

Outside of her professional life, Akiko enjoys playing the cello, traveling with her family, and watching J-league soccer games.
