How agentic AI is shifting embedded insurance towards intelligent protection
As AI matures from experimentation to orchestration, embedded insurance is evolving into something far more proactive. In a recent discussion on Asia Tech Podcast, bolttech’s Group Chief Technology and Operating Officer David Lynch explains how agentic AI is enabling more intelligent, contextual protection across digital ecosystems.
Traditionally, insurance has focused on financial recovery after loss. Today, richer data and AI‑driven intelligence are shifting that model towards prevention – helping customers reduce risk before a claim is ever made.
David highlights the role of agentic AI as a critical enabler of this shift. Rather than relying on static rules and fragmented systems, agentic approaches allow insurers to orchestrate actions across multiple services, partners and data streams – from banks and telcos to retailers and logistics providers.
This orchestration layer is especially powerful in environments still constrained by legacy infrastructure, enabling innovation without full system replacement.
At the same time, David stresses that human oversight remains essential. In regulated industries such as insurance, strong governance, guardrails and human-in-the-loop decision-making are key to building trust while scaling AI capabilities responsibly.
